How To Video The Moon With Your Telescope

One of the first things to try viewing and imaging with your new telescope will always be the Moon, I love the viewing the moon through my 8″ Skywatcher 200p, with its 1000mm reach you can get stunning views of the moon and its craters.

The lunar video i made below, was shot using my skywatcher 200p with a Canon 600d attached to the scope using a t2 adapter. For the close shot i used a 2x Baader barlow.

Once the moon was found on the HEQ5 mount I switched off guiding as i wanted the moon to gradually move out of view and scan across the surface. Takes a bit of practice to get exactly what i wanted, but very pleased with the end result.
